Ingredients

  • Yogurt- 2 cups. You can use a Greek Yogurt or Full Fat Plain Yogurt. If you are wanting to add sour cream to make a sauce or dressing use 1 cup of yogurt and one cup of the sour cream.
  • Avocado- 2 medium. Slightly mash your avocado so that it is chunky yet spreadable (or to your desired consistency). This is about 2 ½ cups.
  • Lime Juice– 2 tablespoons.
  • Sliced toast or baguette bread- 10-12 slices toasted.
  • Optional- Olive Oil- drizzled on top of labne.
  • Optional- Seasonings as desired. I mentioned above that you can add some color and flavor by adding a bit of red pepper flakes or chopped fresh peppers or oregano. Minced garlic is also an option.
  • Optional- fresh herbs for topping.

Instructions

  • Prepare your Labne as described above. Drain your yogurt for 24-48 hours covered in the refrigerator. Remove the Labne from the refrigerator and discard the when that has drained. You can squeeze out any excess moisture as well at this point. Stir the labne and blend in any optional seasonings as desired.
  • Meanwhile, use a masher to mash up your avocado to your desired texture. Then mix in the lime juice and any optional desired seasonings.
  • To assemble your avocado and labne toast, simply layer the labne and then the avocado on the bread. Top with any desired topping such as fresh herbs or optional seasonings. Serve immediatly.

Recipe Notes

As mentioned, to strain your yogurt you will need a yogurt strainer (which you can find online). Set the strainer over a bowl (use a deep bowl) covered with plastic wrap, and allow it to drain while refrigerated for a 24-48 hours.
I also mentioned some ideas for adding flavor to your Labne.
You can blend in some seasonings such as Italian Seasonings, Salt, and/or Pepper to add some flavor to your Labne. Also mentioned above is using sour cream (1:1 with the yogurt) to enhance the texture for making a dressing or dip.
