Instructions

  • This recipe works best as a marinade. As a marinade, it will give a great taste to the shrimp as well as making it easy to cook or grill when you are ready to do so.
  • Start by combining the olive oil and basil in a large zip top bag. You can add any optional ingredients, like your garlic and seasonings, to the bag at this time as well. Close the top and shake the contents of the bag. Then add the shrimp to the bag and shake again. Refrigerate the marinating shrimp for at least thirty minutes.
  • When you are ready to make this recipe. melt the butter over medium high heat in a large skillet. When the butter is melted you can transfer the shrimp to the skillet. Do not add the marinade with the shrimp. However, the marinade that comes with the shrimp is okay.
  • Cook the shrimp until it becomes translucent (fully cooked), stirring and flipping the shrimp. It should take only a few minutes to cook. When done you can toss the shrimp with additional seasonings and basil if desired.

Recipe Notes

Pair this recipe with a nice white wine.

Sauvignon Blanc is a good choice with this recipe. The citrus tones are a nice balance to the basil and butter in my opinion. This is especially a good choice if you are adding garlic to your recipe.
