For a more 'liquid' smoothie, add the ice first. However, for a thicker smoothie that is more like a shake, add the ice last so that you can have more control over it.
Place the frozen bananas in a blender with the milks (coconut and almond or alternatives), vanilla extract and the peanut butter. Optional ingredients such a vegan ice cream and vegan sweetener can go in here as well.
Blend until smooth, about a minute depending on your blender.
Add the ice and continue to blend to consistency. Smoothie consistency can be achieved in two to three minutes depending on your blender.
Refrigerate or freeze leftovers.
Recipe Notes
This recipe gets its flavor and texture from using frozen bananas. I suggest using a firm banana and slicing it before freezing it is an easy way to do this.Mentioned was that there are options for alternatives to regular dairy milk.Coconut milk is a good choice because it has a good texture and offers a lot of flavor. Adding a nut milk, such as almond milk, helps to thin out the smoothie when the ingredients get too thick.
