Ingredients

  • Chickpeas– 1 15-16 ounce can.
  • Garlic- 2 cloves.
  • Onion- 1 average sized chopped.
  • Olive oil- 1 tablespoon plus additional as needed for cooking. Seasonings as desired. This can include Italian Seasonings Mediterranean Diet Seasoning Blend, Greek Seasoning Blend, Salt, and/or Pepper.
  • Flour- 3 tablespoons or as needed for binding.
  • See post for details.

Instructions

  • If you have not done so, simply drain the chickpeas. Then place the chickpeas into a food processor.
  • Heat a skillet or frying pan on medium with the olive oil. Then sauté the onions and garlic until golden brown. Transfer the onions and garlic to the food processor, keeping the remaining oil in the skillet. You can turn the heat off and use the remaining oil and skillet to cook your burgers in.
  • Add the flour and any desired seasonings to the food processor. Process the ingredients until smooth, stopping to scrape down the sides as needed. Refrigerate for about 30 minutes to firm up.
  • Preheat the skillet to medium heat. You can add additional oil as needed. To form the burgers, use your hands. If the burgers seem to be too sticky, simply wet your hands. If it is too wet you can dust your hands with flour as needed.
  • Cook the burgers for about five to six minutes and flip. Continue to cook until done (golden brown) or crisp.
  • Serve immediately.
