Sauté On medium heat, melt your butter in a large saucepan or Dutch oven. Once melted, add chopped onion, celery, and carrots and sauté the ingredients until softened (about six to seven minutes). Then add the minced garlic and continue to sauté for another minute or until fragrant.
Toast. Stir in the wild rice blend and continue to sauté until the rice is toasted (about a minute or two).
Broth. Once the rice has been toasted you can add the broth and any of the optional seasonings. Bring the mixture to a boil and then reduce the heat to low. Cover the saucepan and simmer for until the rice is tender and most of the liquid has been absorbed (about 40-45 minutes).
Rest. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the rice rest (still covered) for five minutes. Then fluff the rice with a fork and serve.
