Equipment

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Pasta. - -cooked al dente according to the directions on the packaging.
  • 2 cups Broccoli. --broken down into bite-sized florets.
  • 3 tbsp Olive Oi
  • 4 cloves Garlic. --minced.

Optional add-ins include red pepper flakes (up to a teaspoon), sliced lemon, lemon juice (one to two tablespoons for flavor), and grated parmesan cheese for topping.

Instructions

  • Prepare. Gather your ingredients as indicated. Have your broccoli broken into florets and your pasta cooked al dente.
  • Broccoli. Slightly pre-cook your broccoli by placing into boiling water for three minutes and then removing it from the water and setting is aside. You can save some of the water for your sauce if desired.
  • Sauté. In a large skillet on medium heat, heat your olive oil for one minute. Then add your minced garlic (along with optional red pepper flakes) and sauté until soft and fragrant (about two minutes).
  • Combine. Add your cooked pasta and broccoli to the skillet and toss the ingredients to combine. Stirring in leftover pasta or broccoli water as desired can help create a creamier sauce. Turning the stove heat off while tossing the ingredients can be done to avoid over-cooking the pasta and broccoli.
  • Serve. You can serve your broccoli and pasta as is or with a bit of grated parmesan or similar cheese on top.
