- Since this recipe is geared more towards a Mediterranean diet, we are not adding additional fat to the chocolate. If your chocolate seems like it is too thick, feel free to add a tablespoon or two of shortening or butter or use a milk chocolate instead (or a mixture of two kinds of chocolate).
- Stirring your chocolate while it melts is essential. Also essential is that your chocolate heats up just enough to melt and not get too hot.
- I like to sprinkle a few sesame seeds or chopped nuts over my strawberries just to make them look and taste more interesting. Feel free to omit this step or sprinkle whatever you want to instead.
Yes, there are differences between the different kinds of chocolate.
This recipe calls for dark chocolate because it is a purer chocolate (without all of the added fats or milk and often sugar) than other kinds of chocolate. As a result, it is often referred to as 'healthier' chocolate.
Some folks prefer the other kinds of chocolate.
Chocolate, such as milk chocolate, is softer and usually tastier to eat and melt because of the added ingredients (fat, milk products, and/or sugar). Since these milk chocolates have less chocolate in comparison to the other ingredients, they are not considered to be as 'healthy' as dark chocolates by the experts.
I have a couple of quick tips to add concerning the strawberries in this recipe.
Your strawberries should be as dry as possible before dipping (or dripping on top of) them into chocolate as water can ruin the chocolate.
Also, sticking a toothpick or two horizontally through the tops of the strawberries may make it easier to dip them into the chocolate.

Then turn off the heat and continue to stir for a couple of minutes allowing the chocolate to cool slightly.
- Microwave method, microwave at 50% and stir every 30 seconds. The bowl will be hot so allow it to sit in the microwave for a couple of minutes, stirring as well.

Tip- you can attach a toothpick or similar item to the top of the strawberry to help you dip. Also, using a spoon with the melted chocolate can help you get the chocolate evenly distributed over the strawberry.
