An easy and delicious recipe, these Caprese Salad Quesadillas are the perfect Mediterranean diet dish!

I like that this recipe works as good for one as it does for 12!

Caprese Salad Quesadillas

Caprese Salad Quesadillas

This recipe takes a simple Italian salad recipe and makes it into a sandwich.
I like to think of this as the perfect marriage of a sandwich and a salad!

This recipe reminds me of my popular Easiest Greek Salad in Vinaigrette Dressing Recipe.

Actually, I suppose that you could easily make that salad and use it instead of the Caprese salad in this recipe. All that you would need to do is place that salad into a wrap.

So, you may be wondering this, is Caprese salad healthy?

I would have to answer that as long as you stick to the healthy ingredients then there is no reason why it should not be healthy.
By healthy ingredients, I mean especially the tomatoes and basil.

There are ways to make this less healthy.

Limiting the amount of cheese that you place into this will help keep the quesadilla on the healthy side.
Also, not adding a creamy dressing can help as well.

This recipe is especially good for anyone who is asking how to eat a Caprese salad.

That is because we are placing our salad into a quesadilla wrap.
I like that doing this makes it easier to pack and eat this on the go!

What kind of a wrap should you use in this recipe, could be one question that has come to mind.

When it comes to traditional wrap options, there are the standard tortilla or wrap options. There are also gluten free wraps, low carb wraps, and even more Mediterranan diet friendly whole wheat wraps that you could use in this recipe.

Tips for making Caprese Salad Quesadillas

I just mentioned that you have options for the wraps that you choose to use in your recipe. There are the standard tortilla or wrap options. There are also gluten free wraps, low carb wraps, and even more Mediterranan diet friendly whole wheat wraps that you could use in this recipe.

Here are some more great tips for you.

  1. You can make the salad or filling portion of this recipe ahead of time. I would suggest adding the sliced tomatoes and cheese when you go to assemble the wrap.
  2. Make these quesadillas even more interesting. You can grill or bake them in the oven until they are lightly brown. Cut them into quarters and serve them as an appetizer for the next big game or gathering.
  3. Why use a wrap or tortilla? I have a recipe for how to make homemade pita bread which could also work in this recipe.

This is a simple lunchtime inspired recipe to make.

While I call this a ‘Salad’, it does not contain the usual salad dressing that you would expect in a salad.
Instead of a standard salad dressing, we will simply drizzle a bit of olive oil on the wrap instead.

There are options to drizzling olive oil on top of the salad ingredients.

Balsamic dressing, Greek Vinaigrette, or Italian Dressing are all good choices.

This salad also calls for fresh Basil leaves.

Basil leaves are a standard ingredient to the Caprese salad. Roma tomatoes are also a standard ingredient however, since they may not work so well in a tortilla, I recommend trying a large tomato that you can slice.
