Vegan Oatmeal Date Cookies

Vegan Oatmeal Date Cookies

This is a cookie recipe for someone who does not like a lot of ingredients.
It is also for someone who likes healthier ingredients in their cookie.

This cookie recipe reminds me a lot of my 6 Ingredient Granola Bar recipe.

Both recipes were for a heathier snack substitute for cookies or bars. Also, both recipes share similar ingredients.

People ask what cookies are vegan.

Vegan cookies are made without ingredients that have come from animals. These ingredients would include eggs, milk chocolate, or butter.

You may also be wondering if vegan cookies are good for you.

Like with anything else, you would need to read the ingredient label to make sure and compare it to what is good for you.
As for me, I like to think of anything being less unhealthy when I can read and identify every ingredient and where it came from. Also, the effect those ingredients have on the body, specifically mine.

There are ingredients that you will need to make vegan oatmeal cookies that you may not have on hand.

Obviously, there are rolled oats in this recipe. You will also need dates.

There are a few more ingredients that you will need for this cookie recipe.

Instead of butter, we will use mashed bananas. Also needed for this recipe is honey, Vanilla Extract,

Tips for making these Vegan Oatmeal Date Cookies.

This recipe is friendly to the Mediterranean diet because it does not have any added refined sugar or flour. This recipe also features fresh fruit.

Here are some great tips for you for this recipe.

  1. Instead of using dates, you can use other dried fruit such as raisins or prunes.*
  2. This recipe calls for honey to help sweeten bind together the ingredients. However, vegans and folks who do not want to use honey can use an alternative. A great alternative is to use maple syrup with an additional date.*
  3. Amp up your cookies by adding shredded coconut, vegan chocolate chips, or chopped nuts.*

*Adding optional ingredients may mean that you will need to adjust other ingredients to help these cookies stick together, retain their texture or even have a good taste.

There are a few things that you should know about these vegan cookies.

Because there is not a lot of fat in these cookies, they may burn faster in the oven. I recommend keeping a close eye on them while they are baking. Adding a bit of peanut butter can help with this and add to the taste.

You may also need to shape your cookies to your liking.

I say this because some folks prefer a fatter cookie while others like a flatter cookie. Because of the oatmeal in these cookies, they tend to take on a different shape than you may be used to.

Knowing how to store these cookies correctly helps to keep them longer.

These cookies should be stored in an airtight container. Store them in a cool place, such as a refrigerator.

About Me

food wine and love

I am a believer in healthy living and healthy eating.

When I turned a certain age (we all have our own ‘certain age’ right?), I decided it was time to eat and live in more healthy manner. I gave up meat and processed foods and adopted a diet based upon fruit, vegetables, and simple recipes. Walking, running, and yoga are a passion as are my pets.
