Wine Scrambled Eggs brings a whole new twist on a favorite breakfast meal.
You will be surprised at how good these eggs are too!
Wine Scrambled Eggs
The first time that I made these I could not believe how good they tasted!
It was purely by trial that I even made these eggs.
As you may suspect, I was looking at a nearly empty bottle sitting in my refrigerator .
The wine was sitting on a prime refrigerator real estate spot. I say thing because there was not a lot of empty space in my refrigerator and that wine needed to exit soon as a result.
Have you ever been left with about an inch or so of wine left in a bottle?
Then you probably know how I felt at the time. It was too early in the day to finish that wine off in order to make room in my refrigerator yet, I did not want to spill the wine out.
I suppose that you could call this #wineproblems.
However, I must say that the eggs turned out really good. As a result, I was pleased with my idea to use the wine in my eggs.
You may be wondering what wines would work in a recipe such as this one.
My first instinct would be to simply use whatever wine pairs well with eggs. I am referring to the dry white wines or maybe a rose perhaps.
But, what you should know is that not every wine that pairs well with eggs will work with this recipe.
Sure, a white wine that is light in body would certainly complement scrambled eggs. However, a rose or anything red would be something that I would steer far away from as they can turn your eggs a funny and unappetizing color.
Here are my choices for for wines to try in your scrambled eggs.
I like to pair the wine with the light and fluffiness of the eggs. Also, I like the idea of balancing out the fat in the eggs with a dry white wine.
Chardonnay is an extremely popular white wine.
As a result of chardonnay being so popular, you may already have some on hand.
I also like the crisp and refreshing flavor of a Pinot Blanc.
While this is less dry than the Chardonnay, I think it is refreshing enough of a wine to use in this recipe.
Sauvignon Blanc also seems like an obvious choice for scrambled eggs.
I would chose one that is not too sweet however as this may overpower your eggs. I light bodied Sauvignon Blanc sounds really good.

Adding cheese to this recipe can alter your choice of wine to use.
I mean, sometimes we go through a bit of work trying to pair cheese with wine for a tasting or party.
As a result, you may want to pair both your eggs and your cheese if you will be adding cheese to your eggs.
Here are some cheese and wine pairings to go with your eggs.
Feta Cheese- I often enjoy my eggs with feta cheese and spinach. Pair your Feta Cheese and scrambled eggs with Sauvignon Blanc.
Mild Cheddar (seems safe enough)- Chardonnay is a good choice. By the way, Chardonnay also works well with Gruyere or Provolone cheese.
Gouda Cheese- Pino Grigio.
In case you are wondering about adding any kind of liquid to your scrambled eggs, I must tell you this.
I started adding a bit of milk to my eggs when I read it would help give them a fluffy texture. However, not everyone likes what milk can do to the eggs. Some say that milk can distract from the taste of the eggs or make the eggs kind of 'rubbery' in texture.
Then some famous person (at the time) went on TV and recommended adding water and not milk to scrambled eggs.
Water, according to that person, will give the eggs that fluff but, without the rubbery texture. I think it is because water is so much lighter than milk.
Then I did a bit more research into how to make eggs more fluffy.
besides adding something like water to the eggs. Sure enough, it is actually the act of whisking the eggs well that introduces the air into the eggs and thus, makes them fluffy as a result. Adding wine to your eggs will not only help you (or me) finish up a bottle of wine, it will add a fresh taste to the eggs as well.

Here is what you will need to make your Wine Scrambled Eggs
This recipe should serve four. Please do not share leftovers with your pets.
As mentioned, avoid using a red wine.
A red wine will turn your eggs a funny color and the texture will be rubbery.
- Butter- 3 tablespoons. Use a plant based oil such as olive oil to keep this Mediterranean friendly.
- Eggs- 8.
- Wine- ¼ cup. Choose a white wine that is dry for a good pairing with your eggs. Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Pinot Blanc are good choices. You can omit this if you wish to keep this Mediterranean friendly. Enjoy red wine on the side 🙂
- Cheese- ⅓ cup shredded. This is optional however, if you decide to use cheese, be mindful with your wine choice.
- Seasonings- such as salt and pepper, to taste.
And here is how to make your Wine Scrambled Eggs.
- In a large skillet on medium heat, melt your butter while you prep your eggs.
- Whisk together the eggs in a mixing bowl. When blended, whisk in the wine and any desired seasonings.
- When your butter begins to bubble you can add the egg mixture to the skillet.
- Move the skillet around so that the eggs evenly cover the skillet and the bottom of skillet is covered. Then lift up the edges that have cooked and allow the uncooked eggs to flow to the bottom of the skillet in order to cook.
- Remove the skillet from the heat when the eggs are just fully cooked. These eggs will be soft and firm but, not hard when done.
What wine would you pair your scrambled eggs with?
I would pair it with the same wine that you have added to your eggs.
Consistency in wine can make the meal more enjoyable!
