    • Prep Time 5 minutes .
    • Cook Time 25 minutes .
    • Servings 4 .
    • How to serve : Goes great when served on a bed of rice or with a side of pasta.
    • Notes: You will need a large skillet, wooden spoon or similar item, and a holding area (such as a clean plate) for the chicken and broccoli.

    1. Broccoli. To get the broccoli perfectly crisp and tender, start by preheating a skillet (dry) on medium heat. After heating the skillet for about a minute, you can add the broccoli florets to the skillet and cook until lightly charred and slightly tender (about three minutes, stirring constantly). Transfer the cooked broccoli to a holding area such as a clean plate.
    2. Chicken To cook the chicken, prep the warm skillet with olive oil and heat the oil for about a minute to get warm. Add the chicken to the warm skillet and sauté until golden brown and cooked through (about seven to eight minutes, stirring occasionally). Transfer the cooked chicken to a clean plate or similar holding area.
    3. Sauce. Add the sesame oil to the warm skillet along with the soy sauce, oyster sauce, ginger purée, and minced garlic. Use a whisk or your wooden spoon to combine the ingredients as they cook allowing the flavors to meld (about two minutes).
    4. Combine Add the cooked broccoli and cooked chicken to the warm sauce and use your wooden spoon to combine the ingredients so that the chicken and broccoli are coated with the sauce. Cook the ingredients for two to three more minutes tossing or stirring frequently to ensure that the ingredients are cooking evenly.
    5. Serve Serve your chicken and broccoli over rice or as desired.

Tips for making the best skillet chicken and broccoli dinner.

Ginger puree is used to give this recipe an authentic taste that resembles take-out versions of this recipe idea. Freshly grated ginger can be used instead of pureed ginger.

    More helpful tips for you.

    1. Use a clean paper towel to pat the excess moisture off of your chicken before cutting it into pieces. This will allow the sauce to stick to the chicken better.
    2. Frozen broccoli can also be used in this recipe. Your broccoli should be defrosted and with the excess moisture patted or drained out first.
    3. While my recipe uses boneless skinless chicken breasts you can alternatively use thighs. Also, other similar bite-sized vegetables, such as sliced carrot, can be added to this recipe. Just make sure that you avoid overcrowding the skillet as doing so can affect the cooking process and results.

How to store chicken and broccoli

Once your chicken with broccoli has fully cooled, it can be stored in an airtight container. When properly stored, chicken and broccoli should keep for up to four days when refrigerated or up to a couple of months when frozen.
