I love that there is such as thing as Grilled Tofu Tacos.

This is partially because I like options when it comes to what I eat.

Grilled Tofu Tacos

Grilled Tofu Tacos

This grilled meal idea is perfect for anyone.
You do not have to be a vegan to enjoy this grilled tofu taco recipe!

This taco recipe does remind me of my Easy Vegan Tofu and Broccoli recipe.

I like that both recipes feature a non-meat way to enjoy a popular recipe.
However, this recipe can be made on a grill, which is something that I do appreciate this time of the year!

This recipe is also for anyone who is asking what to put in tacos.

Sure, you can use the standard meat (beef, turkey, etc) to make a great tasting taco.
Fish tacos are equally popular to eat for a lot of folks too.

Tofu is a great idea for tacos too.

Adding tofu to tacos is better than you may expect it to be.
You can easily add your other ingredients just like in a normal taco.

If you have never tried tofu then you may be asking what does tofu taste like.

I will start by stating that tofu is not always eaten as it is, straight out of the box.
In fact, I am quite impressed with the various ways that tofu can be prepared and eating (hence: this recipe).

In this tofu taco recipe, the tofu will be prepared a lot like we would prepare and kind of base ingredient that would become part of a taco.

What I mean is, if you were to prepare meat or shrimp, for example, to go into a taco you would probably season and cook it to go into a taco. The tofu in this recipe will be prepared in this taco recipe just as those other base ingredient would be.

Tips for making tofu tacos.

I just mentioned that we will be preparing the tofu for these tacos similarly like we would prepare beef, shrimp, or other ingredients to go into a taco. The result of preparing the tofu will make it blend in the the taco rather than stand out as something different.

Here are some more great tips for you.

  1. I suggest using a firm or extra firm tofu for this recipe. You are welcome to use a crumbled tofu as well.
  2. To prepare your tofu you will need to press and drain it. This is an easy process. To press and drain your tofu simply place it on top of a few paper towels or clean kitchen towel. Then top this with more paper towels or another clean kitchen towel. Place something heavy on top of the tofu and allow it to sit for fifteen to twenty minutes.
  3. I know that I mentioned that this recipe can be made on a grill. However, feel free to make this recipe in a skillet on the stove instead. Or, you can make this recipe in a skillet on the stove if you prefer.

Here is how to grill your tofu.

Make sure that you are using a firm or extra firm tofu that is not silken if you are using a grill to make this recipe.
Silken tofu is a softer tofu that tends to not hold up as well when cooked (which is why silken works great in smoothies, dips, and dressings ).

To prepare the tofu you will need to press it to get as much liquid out as possible.
Grill the tofu before cutting it up or crumbling it.
It is best to use a grilling pan or similar item rather than placing the tofu right onto the grill grates as tofu tends to get sticky.

We are going to use a simple marinade for this recipe.

I like to use a taco seasoning already prepared.
You can opt to use a low sodium version of a taco seasoning as well.
