This recipe for Spinach Dip Made With Greek Yogurt is perfect for serving with just about anything.

I like how easy it is to make this dip.

Spinach Dip Made With Greek Yogurt

Spinach Dip Made With Greek Yogurt

This would go great my Whole Wheat Toasted Garlic Flatbread Chips.

I also have a recipe for Easy Salted Chickpea Chips that would taste incredible when dipped into this spinach dip.

I developed this recipe because I was not happy with the fat that can come with a regular spinach dip.

The fat that is added to a spinach dip usually comes from the dairy products that are used. Mayonnaise alone provides around ten grams of fat per tablespoon.

    Jump to Recipe

Mayonnaise is usually made from a combination of four ingredients.

Those four ingredients are some kind of oil, egg yolks, an acid such a lemon juice or vinegar, and seasonings. Store bought mayonnaise may also have added ingredients to prolong its shelf life.

However, mayonnaise does provide some benefits to anything that it is added to.

For some folks, it is the taste of mayo that they like so much. But, in a recipe such as this one, mayonnaise is both the glue that holds the ingredients together as well as being important for the texture that makes this a good dip.

There are some decent alternatives for mayonnaise.

Many of these alternatives provide the texture that mayonnaise provides.
These alternatives are great for use in dips or sauces if their taste is good too.

My choice for an alternative to mayonnaise is Greek Yogurt in this recipe for dip.

Preferably, the low fat Greek Yogurt. However, if you must have some fat in your dip, you can certainly go with a regular Greek Yogurt.

Here are some helpful tips for making your Spinach Dip Made With Greek Yogurt.

I already mentioned that using mayonnaise provides texture and fat to this dip. However, using a Low Fat Greek Yogurt can make this dip lower in fat.

Here are some more great tips for you.

    1. Using a dry vegetable mixor soup mix rather than the seasonings, can make this recipe even easier to make. You may need to adjust the amount that you use accordingly. Also, keep in mind the salt and other contents of that dry mix as well.
    2. Feel free to substitute in dairy products as needed. Just keep the total amount added the same to keep ingredient balance right.
    3. Adding a crunchy vegetable such as a chopped leek or water chestnuts adds to the enjoyment in this recipe. Even better, adding a bit of hot sauce will take this to a new level for some folks!

I mentioned that there are other alternatives for mayonnaise that can be used in this recipe besides Greek Yogurt.

    1. Light Mayonnaise.
    2. Olive Oil Mayonnaise.
    3. Avocado Mayonnaise.
    4. Plain Yogurt.
    5. Low Fat Cream Cheese.
    6. Low Fat Sour Cream.
    7. Or, a vegan alternative .

This is a relatively easy recipe to make.

I like that it can be made by hand in a bowl that you can cover and store in the refrigerator.
