This Basil and Butter Shrimp recipe may be what you need to add a bit of romance to your dinner,
You can make this meal for two and enjoy a great moment or two.

Basil and Butter Shrimp

Basil and Butter Shrimp

This is a perfect way to enjoy a dinner for two.
Simply make this and add a bottle of wine and a few candles to the table and you will be all set.

This is actually an easy meal to make.
Cooking this really comes down to cooking your shrimp.
It is how you season the shrimp that adds to the loving atmosphere of the meal.

The secret to making this a more romantic shrimp recipe lies in the basil.

I had no idea that basil is also considered to have romantic links to it. This is because I always thought of basil as a favorite Italian herb.

You may be wondering what is so great about basil.
Well, basil does have some health benefits to start with. Those benefits include anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

When it comes to promoting a romantic dinner however, basil has its history.

It seems that the romantic links of basil goes back some time in Italy for example. This is especially for males and the association of the smell of basil and romance. I don’t know how true this is however, I also do not know how untrue it is.

Fresh Basil is recommended. However, there are some fresh basil alternatives that can be used if you cannot find fresh basil.

Also, make this with garlic if you want the great taste of garlic in this recipe.
However, we all know what garlic can do the our breath. Thus, take precautions with the garlic if you are wanting a more romantic result from this recipe.

Pair this recipe with a nice white wine.

Sauvignon Blanc is a good choice with this recipe. The citrus tones are a nice balance to the basil and butter in my opinion. This is especially a good choice if you are adding garlic to your recipe.

Here is what you will need to make this Basil and Butter Shrimp recipe.

  • Olive Oil– 1 tablespoon.
  • Basil– 1/4 cup. Fresh and shredded preferred.
  • Butter– 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) to be melted.
  • Optional Ingredients:
    • Garlic– 2 cloves minced.
    • Pinot Grigio (or similar dry white wine)-1/4 cup.
    • Seasonings to taste.
  • Shrimp– 1 pound. I prefer jumbo shrimp for a recipe like this one. The larger the better if you ask me.Your shrimp should be cleaned and deveined.

Here is how to make this Basil and Butter Shrimp recipe

This recipe works best as a marinade. As a marinade, it will give a great taste to the shrimp as well as making it easy to cook or grill when you are ready to do so.

  • Start by combining the olive oil and basil in a large zip top bag. You can add any optional ingredients, like your garlic and seasonings, to the bag at this time as well. Close the top and shake the contents of the bag. Then add the shrimp to the bag and shake again. Refrigerate the marinating shrimp for at least thirty minutes.
  • When you are ready to make this recipe. melt the butter over medium high heat in a large skillet. When the butter is melted you can transfer the shrimp to the skillet. Do not add the marinade with the shrimp. However, the marinade that comes with the shrimp is okay.
  • Cook the shrimp until it becomes translucent (fully cooked), stirring and flipping the shrimp. It should take only a few minutes to cook. When done you can toss the shrimp with additional seasonings and basil if desired.
