This is a tasty and simple salad that works well beside a delicious meal or alone.
I like how healthy and low in fat this salad can be!

Did you try my Maple Roasted Brussels Sprouts?

That recipe is a simple way to make roasted Brussels sprouts that most anyone could enjoy.
This recipe is as much about a salad as it is about the sprouts themself.

You may be asking can you eat raw brussels sprouts in a salad.

The answer is yes, you can eat raw brussels sprouts in a salad.
This tasty recipe is certainly proof of that.

However, in order to eat the brussels sprouts in a salad, I suggest making it easier it eat.

In this salad we will ‘shred’ the brussels sprouts to make them easier to eat.
Shredding will also make the brussels sprouts blend in with the other ingredients as well.

People ask what is the best way to shred brussels sprouts.

Some people will use a strong blender or food processor to shred their sprouts.
However, I find that is is simple to just use a kitchen knife and cut them by hand.

Here is how to prepare the brussels sprouts for this recipe.

I first like to trim off the ends and outer layers and then rinse my sprouts in cold water then allowing them to dry. To shred the sprouts simple cut them lengthwise in half then slice the halves to create shreds.

Tips for making brussels sprouts salad.

I just mentioned how to rinse and trim the sprouts before cutting them up for this recipe. To shred them, simply cut the sprouts in half and then slice the halves to create the shreds.

Here are some more great tips for you.

  1. Since brussels sprouts are small, you will not have to make more than a few slices to each half to create the shreds. I suggest using your hands to pull apart the cut pieces to separate the shreds created.
  2. I like to add dried fruit to add color, texture, and flavor to this salad. Raisins, dried cranberries, or a mix of dried berries are my go-to choices.
  3. This recipe also goes great with added nuts. I like walnuts, almonds, or pecans for flavor and crunch.

People ask what is honey mustard dressing made of.

This salad goes great with a simple honey Dijon dressing.
To make the dressing friendly to the Mediterranean diet, I am sharing a simple vinaigrette recipe.

How to make honey Dijon Vinaigrette dressing for this salad.

Use a whisk to blend together the ingredients and then toss the the salad in it.
Honey (1 tablespoon, maple syrup for vegans) + Dijon Mustard (1 tablespoon) + Vinegar (¼ cup) + Olive Oil (¾ cup). Feel free to adjust these ingredients or add seasonings as desired. You may not need all of the dressing for your salad as well.

This salad can be made in advance.

I suggest that if you do make this in advance, to not assemble the ingredients until about an hour before you are ready to serve it. Allowing the ingredients to sit for 20 minutes to up to an hour can make this salad taste even better!
