    The ingredients used to make this recipe are common ingredients that you may already have on hand.

    • Chickpeas.Use canned recipe for this recipe. First pull a tablespoon or two of the liquid from the can and set it aside. Then drain your chickpeas well.
    • Avocado. Use two medium sized avocados that are ripe. The avocados should be peeled, pits removed, and then cut into slices.
    • Olive Oil. Plus additional as desired for serving.
    • Garlic. The garlic clove should be peeled.
    • Lime Juice. You freshly squeezed lime juice for best results.
    • Seasonings as desired. This can include salt, pepper, or a seasoning blend of your choice.
    • Optional topping ingredients include sesame seeds, paprika, parsley, additional olive oils, and/or minced garlic.

    When selecting avocados to use in this recipe, it is best to select ripe avocados. Not only is this a great way to use up a good supply of avocados, ripe avocados offer the best flavor and texture for this recipe.

    1. In a food processor or good blender place your drained chickpeas and give them a quick pulse or two.
    2. Add the avocado slices to the processor or blender and pulse the ingredients two to three more times to gently break them down.
    3. Next, add the olive oil, garlic, and lime juice along, with and desired seasonings, and process until your hummus is at your desired texture.
    4. Taste the hummus and make adjustments as needed in the seasonings and texture.
    5. Serve this hummus with garnishes such as drizzled olive oil, minced garlic, sesame seeds, or paprika.

    Expert Tip 👉 To thicken hummus you can add additional chickpeas and to thin it out you can add the chickpea water.

    This hummus should be (very well) covered in an airtight container and refrigerated. When properly stored, this hummus should be good for about two days with minor color change.
