Did you try my recipe for Savory Pumpkin Hummus?

That Pumpkin Hummus recipe is a more traditional version that tastes great just the same.
This hummus recipe however, has been tweaked to be more friendly as a dessert option or as a fruit dip.

Confused about which vegan milk is the best to use in your recipe?
Here is what you need to know about choosing the right vegan milk..

This pumpkin hummus dip recipe is for anyone looking for a fall inspired dip.

While pumpkins are a reminder of fall, this recipe can really be enjoyed any time of the year.
This is because the ingredients used in this recipe are available year round.

This hummus recipe is also a vegan friendly one.

There are no animal related products added to this recipe. Also, thanks to the chickpeas in this recipe, this recipe gives us a bit of protein too.

This pumpkin hummus recipe is not made with tahini.

Instead, we are using nut butter.
Suggested nut butters to use include peanut butter, walnut butter, almond butter, or cashew butter.

Feel free to use an organic nut butter.

Many organic nut butters are made without added ingredients such as sugar.
The nut butters give this recipe both flavor and consistency.

Tips for making this pumpkin hummus recipe.

This recipe calls for pureed pumpkin. Please make sure that you are indeed using pureed pumpkin and not pumpkin pie filling as it can be easy to mistake one for the other.

Here are some more great tips for you.

  1. Allow the flavors to blend together for a few hours in the refrigerator before serving. Refrigerating is also a good idea to do before adding any extra seasonings for taste.
  2. I have included molasses in this recipe as molasses is vegan. However, you are welcome to use another sweetened such as maple syrup or honey depending on your diet and tastes. You may need to adjust the amount used as well.
  3. I like to use my Vitamix blender to make hummus. However, a food processor should do the trick if that is what you prefer to use.

How to prepare the beans for hummus.

Using canned Garbanzo (chickpeas) beans is an easy way to go for making hummus. Before adding them to the recipe be sure to drain then rinse the beans first. Some folks like to save the drained liquid for later use.

Topping your hummus before serving is a great way to personalize the look and the taste of it.
You can drizzle walnut oil on top before serving. Or, adding raisins or chopped nuts may be a nice topping.

How to store pumpkin hummus.

This pumpkin pie spice hummus can be stored in an air tight container in the refrigerator. It should keep for up to four to five days if properly stored.

Pumpkin Pie Hummus

How to serve pumpkin pie hummus.

This pumpkin pie hummus can be served as a light fruit dip or more as dessert dip.
You can adjust the molasses used in this recipe for your needs.

Here are some ideas on how to serve this hummus.

  • With baked chips on the side (I use less molasses when doing so).
  • As a fruit dip for apples, pears, or similar fruit that can be dipped.
  • With crackers such as graham crackers.
  • As a topping for cakes or pies.
  • Lastly, with ice cream.

Ingredients needed to make pumpkin pie hummus.

  • Chickpeas– 1 (15-15.5 ounce) can. The beans should be rinsed and drained.
  • Pumpkin Puree– 1 cup. Please use a puree that has no added ingredients or puree your own pumpkin.
  • Vanilla Extract– 1 teaspoon.
  • Nut Butter- â…“ cup.
Suggested nut butters to use include peanut butter, walnut butter, almond butter, or cashew butter.
  • Ground Cinnamon-½ teaspoon.
  • Pumpkin Pie Spice– ½ teaspoon.
  • Molasses– 2 to 3 tablespoons as desired.
  • Optional- salt as needed.

How to make Pumpkin Pie Hummus

  • Add all of the ingredients to a food processor or strong blender. When adding the molasses, add a half to whole tablespoon at a time until the hummus is sweet enough.
  • If the consistency of your hummus is too thick, it can be thinned out with small amounts of water or juice (a few teaspoons at a time).
  • Transfer the hummus to an air tight container and refrigerate until served. Top with chopped nuts, raisins, sesame seeds, drizzled walnut oil, or as desired before serving.

I am a believer in healthy living and healthy eating.

When I turned a certain age (we all have our own ‘certain age’ right?), I decided it was time to eat and live in more healthy manner. I gave up meat and processed foods and adopted a diet based upon fruit, vegetables, and simple recipes. Walking, running, and yoga are a passion as are my pets.
