Easy Homemade Blueberry Cobbler
I like to think that 'Easy' is the key word in this recipe.
This is because, who does not like to make some thing that tastes great yet, easy to make?
What really makes this recipe so easy to make is that there are not a lot of ingredients in it.
Actually, the ingredient listing is quite simple to follow. Also, the ingredients in the list are probably items that you already have on hand.
This is not a blueberry cobbler with cake mix recipe.
For some reason, using a cake mix would somehow change this to a blueberry cake, in my opinion.
Also, the cake mix would add extra ingredients to the mixing bowl that I do not believe belong in this specific recipe for blueberry cobbler.
I must say that I do like the simplicity of this recipe.
This is because it is the simplicity of the recipe that makes it so versatile .
Because this is a simple and versatile recipe, it is easier to serve at any time of the day.
I should also mention that this is not a blueberry crisp.
Certainly there are people who use the terms "crisp" and "cobbler" interchangeable.
We could also probably add "crumble" this confusion as well.
However, there is a difference between a "crisp", "crumble" and "cobbler".
A cobbler is more about the fruit that is baked within the dough which is somewhat of a biscuit dough.
On the other hand, a crisp has a crispy topping that may also include oats and a crumble will be topped with a sugar-based topping.
I like to think that this cobbler recipe is a healthy one as well.
This is because unlike with a crisp or crumble, this cobbler is not topped with sugar or other ingredients.
The ingredients are part of that whole simple recipe idea that I have mentioned.
This recipe has also been modified to be friendly to the Mediterranean diet.
Instead of using a basic self rising flour, we will use a whole wheat self rising flour. Look for "Wholemeal" flour if you are unsure of self rising whole wheat flour. However, you could simply use regular self-rising flour
This cobbler recipe calls for whole milk.
However, feel free to substitute in whipping cream, condensed milk, or a vegan milk. Please take into consideration that the liquid that you use may affect the consistency and taste of your cobbler.
