This recipe for Skillet Spaghetti For Two is the perfect for a romantic dinner.
However, it is also a great idea for an easy two person meal.

Skillet Spaghetti For Two

You can also think of this as a one skillet meal.
This is because this delicious spaghetti meal for two is made entirely in one skillet.

Spaghetti is a popular pasta choice to serve.
In fact, it may even be the most popular pasta on the market.
This if course would depend on how you serve it and where you serve it and who you serve it to.

What all varieties of Spaghetti have in common would be that they are long strands of pasta shaped like a cylinder.

The diameter of the spaghetti could fall anywhere from 1.9 millimeters to 2 millimeters.
Just as the width of spaghetti may vary, so can the length. However, most spaghetti will measure around 25–30 centimeters or 10–12 inches.

If you have ever looked closely at a box of spaghetti, you may have noticed a number.
This number indicates the size of the spaghetti. The number five, #5, indicates a normal size spaghetti.

With the different numbers that identify different kinds of spaghetti, there are also names.

There are some locations around the world, especially in Italy, where the number and name makes a big difference.
In these locations a spaghetti #8 is called spaghettoni and is a thicker noodle. Spaghetti #3, spaghettini would be thinner.
However, these names and spaghetti sizes can change depending on where you are or who is making it. Hence, the # can make sence.

Angel Hair Pasta however is not actually Spaghetti.
The truth is that Angel Hair is a pasta that is fine. It is also called capellini, or “fine hair.” Angel Hair is thinner that Spaghetti #3 and is considered to be a pasta rather that a spaghetti. Angel hair,as it is suggested, should be served with lighter sauces than Spaghetti because the noodles are more fragile.

What is it that makes Spaghetti a food associated with romance?

Spaghetti can be thought of as a romantic meal especially when it is Spaghetti made for two.
One reason for this is because the sauce that covers the Spaghetti is red and red is the color most associated with love and romance.

To get the full effect of romance for this Spaghetti meal for two, I would suggest serving it with some wine.
Most specifically, a red wine works well with a Spaghetti meal. Since this meal has a tomato-based red sauce, I would suggest a Cabernet or Chianti should work well.

Generally speaking, the pairing of the wine should be with the sauce used and not the pasta itself.

This is because the bolder flavors in a pasta dish come from the sauce that is used. Especially when the sauce is a thick tomato-based sauce with seasonings and meat added to it.

Skillet Spaghetti For Two

I love that this entire recipe can be made in one skillet. You should use a large skillet that can handle all of the ingredients that will be used however. I recommend at least a 12 inch skillet for this recipe.

Also, using meat is optional in this recipe.
If you will be using meat in your sauce, cook the meat in the skillet fully before making the pasta. For example, if you are using beef, cook it over medium heat until it is broken up and browned. Then remove the meat, drain it and gently wipe away excess remaining fat with a paper towel if needed. You could also use an easy cheat by adding precooked meatballs to your skillet.

Here is what you will need to make Skillet Spaghetti For Two.

  • Pasta Sauce– 1 24 ounce jar or can. You could also use tomato sauce (3 eight ounce cans) and add your own seasonings if you prefer.
  • Garlic– one clove cut or minced. You can omit this if you prefer to.
  • Water- 1 1/2 cups.
  • Spaghetti– 1 sixteen ounce box, uncooked. I suggest using a regular #5, normal sized spaghetti.
  • Mozzarella Cheese- 1 cup. You can vary the amount that you add or sub in a similar cheese.
  • Parmesan Cheese 1/2 cup. You can also sub in a similar cheese here as well.
  • Seasonings, such as salt, pepper, etc.- as desired

How to make Skillet Spaghetti For Two.

  • If you are adding meat to your sauce, cook the meat as described above until browned. Then drain the meat and set it aside.
  • Add the sauce and the garlic to the skillet and heat this on medium heat. Also, add any additional seasonings at this time. When it becomes warm, about 2-3 minuets, stir in the water.
  • Turn the heat up to medium high and bring the contents of the skillet to a boil. When the skillet begins to boil, stir in the pasta (you can break it up) and cover. Reduce the heat to a low setting and allow the pasta to cook, stirring occasionally to prevent the pasta from sticking and the sauce from burning. You can also stir in the meat at this time or stir the meat in after the pasta has finished cooking. If the sauce begins to dry out too quickly, you can add a bit more water as needed. The Spaghetti should be done or tender in about 15-18 minutes.
  • Remove the skillet from the heat and top or with or stir in your cheese and any optional meat if you desire to add the meat here.
