The quick answer is possibly not.
This is because many varieties of noodles are made with eggs.
This recipe is made with Hokkein Noodles.
Hokkein noodles are generally not made with egg.
However, I would suggest that you check the ingredients on the packaging to make sure that your noodles are indeed vegan.
People do ask what is the difference between lo mein and chow mein.
Technically, the noodles used in lo mein have eggs in them.
Lo mein is usually prepared in a wok.
Technically, chow mein refers to fried noodles.
However, they are not always prepared that way, such as in this recipe.
Chow mein noodles do not usually contain egg in them as well.

- Yellow Onion- ½ onion sliced thin. That is about a quarter cup.
- Cabbage- ½ cup shredded (you can buy this already made).
- Olive Oil- 3 tablespoons.
- Low Sodium Soy Sauce - 2 tablespoons.
- Hoisin Sauce- 2 tablespoons.
- Optional- cooked tofu and/or Seasonings as desired.
How to make Instant Pot Panda Express Copycat Chow Mein
- Prepare your ingredients as indicated above. You can chop the celery, slice the onion, and shred the cabbage. However, if the noodles have not been cooked, cook them as indicated on the packaging. Also, if you are adding tofu chunks, make sure they have been cooked as well.
- Set your instant pot or pressure cooker to sauté. This allows the instant pot to heat up to the temperatures of a hot wok.
- Next, you can add the oil and vegetables to the instant pot. Make sure that you sauté the ingredients until they start to caramelize.
- Once vegetables start to caramelize, you can add the noodles and the sauces. Also, you can continue to sauté the ingredients for three minutes. Be sure that you are also stirring the ingredients constantly to avoid burning the noodles.
- Carefully remove the Chow Mein from the instant pot and serve.
