This recipe Garlic Shrimp Linguine Made with Wine is certainly one of the healthier pasta recipes that I have ever tasted.
I like that it is friendly to the Mediterranean diet as well.
Garlic Shrimp Linguine Made with Wine
This is one of those easy and quick to make recipes that tastes amazing.
It is a lot easier to make than I would have thought it to be.
I think that the garlic gives this a great taste that I would expect from a pasta dish.
However, it really is the wine in this recipe that makes it work. The wine balances out the garlic in a sophisticated yet, tasty way, in my opinion.
I have seen similar recipes to this one for pasta made with shrimp.
A lot of the time those recipes will be heavy in fat, namely butter.
Followers of the Mediterranean diet know that avoiding butter is important to making the diet successful.
The Mediterranean diet avoids the use of butter.
This is because the fat in the butter is not considered to be the healthiest for most folks.
As a result, we use olive oil in place of butter.
I must say that olive oil actually adds to the taste of this recipe.
The nutty-like taste that comes naturally from olive anything sits nicely with the garlic. You probably will not miss the heavy fatty taste of butter in this recipe as a result.
Also needed in this pasta recipe is garlic.
This recipe calls for 2 cloves of garlic that is minced. However, if you are using already minced garlic then you will need about 2 ½ teaspoons or three teaspoons if you want a bolder taste.
You can use a simple or basic linguine to make this recipe.
Most boxes of linguine have a pound of linguine that is uncooked. For this recipe we will use half of the package or 8 ounces. If you would like to use the entire package then simply double the other ingredients.
For the wine in this recipe, I suggest using a light dry white wine.
This is the perfect wine to offset and complement the other ingredients in this recipe. Dry white wine would also make for a great pair to the pasta.
Natural, as indicated in the title, this recipe includes shrimp.
I like a large or medium sized shrimp in this recipe as opposed to a small or even salad sized shrimp as the meaty taste of the shrimp adds to the overall taste of this dish. Please make sure that your shrimp has been deveined and peeled.
