Ramen noodles are a Japanese noodle made from wheat flour. Kansui is used to give ramen noodles their chewy texture with elasticity.

Unlike other noodles, ramen noodles do not usually have fiber or protein.
Ramen noodle dishes are said to be based on a Chinese noodle dish.

What makes ramen noodles so popular?

You probably already know how inexpensive ramen noodles are when you see them at your local grocery store. They are also relatively easy to make.

Ramen noodles are easier to store than other noodles as they are usually packaged in small individual packages. They are also versatile as you can eat them as is (some folks eat them uncooked as a snack) or you can add them to recipes such as this one.

Tips for making a ramen bowl.

Using a good quality ramen can go far in making a successful bowl.
It is also important that you cook the ramen according to the packaging as overcooking the ramen will turn it mushy.

Here are some more great tips for you.

    1. Shimeji mushrooms were used to make my bowl. You can however use the mushrooms of your choice.
    2. Make this recipe vegan. Simply omit the egg, swap out the honey with maple syrup (adjustments as needed), and use vegan versions of the remaining ingredients such as broth.
    3. This recipe is really best when served warm just after making it. If you have leftovers, I would make a new batch of ramen rather than using the leftover noodles.

How to store leftover ramen soup.

This recipe is really best when served warm. Leftover ingredients should be stored separately and reassembled upon serving with freshly made ramen.
