Questions asked about seed crackers?
Just as it may seem to be, seed crackers are crackers that are made with seeds.
However, many of these crackers are also made without added flour, making them a unique choice.
Seed crackers are a more 'artisan' or basic kind of recipe that is made using traditional methods rather than processed methods. These crackers differ from traditional crackers as they are simple yet, flavorful and are usually multi textured.
Seed crackers are as healthy as the ingredients and the methods used to make them. If the seed crackers have just seeds and basic ingredients (like in this recipe) they can be considered to be relatively healthy.
When made with a variety of seeds, seed crackers are a source of fiber, protein, and healthy fats as well as vitamins and minerals. Seed crackers can also be friendly to diets such as vegan, vegetarian, low carbohydrate, gluten free, and Mediterranean diets.
Tips for making seed crackers.
What makes these crackers so interesting is the texture thanks to the variety of seeds that go into the recipe.
It is best to mix the ingredients by hand as using a mixer or food processor can break down the seeds.
Here are some more great tips for you.
- When you transfer the ingredients to your baking sheet, be sure to spread the mixture out as evenly as possible in order for the crackers to bake evenly. I like to gently use a small pizza rolling pin for a recipe such as this one.
- Personalize these crackers by adding Seasonings as desired. This can include Italian Seasonings, Mediterranean Diet Seasoning Blend, Greek Seasoning Blend, Salt, and/or Pepper.
- Cooling these crackers fully is essential making them crisp. If you are looking to make your crackers evenly sliced, you can pull them out of the oven during the baking process and use a pizza cutter wheel to cut the dough as desired.
How to store multi seed crackers.
Once the crackers have fully cooled, you can place them into an airtight container for storage. These crackers should keep for up to a week at room temperature if properly stored.
