Tips for making the best apple loaf cake.
When selecting apples to use in this recipe, I like to use a mixture of tart and sweet apples for balance of flavors. Use apples that can hold up to baking. Good choices include Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, Fuji, or Pink Lady).
More helpful tips for you.
- The apples are prepared before the other ingredients in this recipe to give them a chance to meld with the other ingredients. Your apples will get slightly syrupy as the sugar draws out some of the moisture as a result.
- Ground cinnamon and nutmeg are used to give this a fall inspired flavor. For more of an 'apple pie' taste you can use apple pie spice instead.
- When combining the ingredients in the batter, mix the ingredients until just combined. Over-mixing can ruin the tender texture of this loaf.

How to store apple loaf.
Once the apple loaf has fully cooled it should be stored in an airtight container or wrapped well. When properly stored, apple loaf should keep for up to three days at room temperature, five days when refrigerated, or up to three months when frozen. Bring the loaf to room temperature before serving or toast slices of it in your oven to crispen up the streusel again.
