Avocado Labne Toast is something that I think is underrated.

Not only is Avocado Labne Toast a great snack idea, it also makes for an amazing breakfast as well!

Avocado Labne Toast

Avocado Labne Toast

This is the perfect blend of flavors when the avocado and the yogurt work together on a slice of bread.
I love the way that these ingredients complement one another.

The avocado portion of this recipe does remind me of my Easy Avocado Pesto recipe.

However, this recipe really works well with the flavor of the avocado itself.
But, you could use that avocado pesto recipe instead of the avocado in this recipe as the pesto recipe would work well too!

You may be wondering what is Labneh made of.

Labneh is a Middle East spread that is commonly referred to as a cheese by some folks.
That is because Labneh is really made like a cheese by straining the whey from dairy.

Labneh is made from Greek Yogurt.

Greek yogurt is pretty much the only ingredient used in making Labneh.
Yet, some folks will also add sour cream to help the texture become more creamy for use as a dressing or dip.

At first I wondered what does Labneh taste like.

I mean, it is made from yogurt that has been strained.
You would think that Labneh would simply be a Greek Yogurt spread right?

Yes, Labneh does take on the taste and the texture of a strained Greek Yogurt.

However, you can also add some flavor to your Labneh by blending in some seasonings.

This can include Italian Seasonings, Salt, and/or Pepper.

I have Tips for making Avocado Labne Toast.

I just mentioned that you can blend in some seasonings such as Italian Seasonings, Salt, and/or Pepper to add some flavor to your Labne. Also mentioned above is using sour cream (1:1 with the yogurt) to enhance the texture for making a dressing or dip.

Here are some more great tips for you.

  1. Chopped avocado works great all by itself on top of the Labne. I would suggest that you sprinkle some lime juice on top of the avocado to help keep it from turning brown.
  2. A great way to serve your Labne is by drizzling a bit of olive oil on top.You can add some color and flavor by adding a bit of red pepper flakes or chopped fresh peppers or oregano.
  3. Labne should keep for up to two weeks if stored properly. Store your Labne in a sealed jar or in a covered container in the refrigerator.

Here is how to drain your Greek Yogurt to make Labne.

To strain your yogurt you will need a yogurt strainer (which you can find online). Set the strainer over a bowl (use a deep bowl) covered with plastic wrap, and allow it to drain while refrigerated for a 24-48 hours.

When your yogurt is done straining remove it from the refrigerator.

Discard the drained whey and strain out any excess liquid if needed. Stir the remaining Yogurt/Labne or roll it into balls (like mozzarella). By the way, if you do not have a strainer, you can easily use cheesecloth instead or you could also line your strainer with the cheesecloth too.

Lastly, you have options for the bread that you use in this recipe.

A more condensed bread such as a French Bread works well as it will absorb any excess fluid and hold up well with the Labne and the avocado.
I like how the texture of the thicker bread works perfectly with the toppings too!
