Tips for making this vegetarian mezze board.
Sometimes boards and platters that contain a variety of food can get confusing when there are too many different kinds of food on it. My biggest suggestion is to place the food in an organized way, in large groups rather than scattered about.
Here are some more great tips for you.
- When planning out your mezze board, think in terms of abundance of good food that is well organized. Generally speaking, the more full the board, the better it tends to look!
- Not all kinds of cheese is vegetarian. Some kinds of cheese contain 'rennet' which comes from animals. Cheeses that may include rennet include Parmesan, Romano, and Gorgonzola. Mozzarella and provolone generally do not contain rennet. Read the labeling on the package if in doubt.
- Feel free to omit one of my elements or add one of your own. Personalizing this platter is what can make it so good!

This is an element that should be served in a shallow bowl to avoid the liquid from spreading to the other food. Marinated food generally introduces color and a more acid flavor to the mezze board.
Marinated food ideas include (marinated in jars):
A Mediterranean dip or sauce for dipping into.
Crunchy and dipping elements
Fresh fruit and vegetable element.
- Cherry tomatoes.
- Grapes cut into small groups or single.
