    This recipe is for anyone asking how do you make mango salsa from scratch.

    Like most salsa recipes, it takes just a few fresh ingredients to make a salsa.
    Those ingredients are chopped and then combined together and then topped with a bit of citrus juice.

    This salsa is is very similar to the basic salsa recipe.

    However, this recipe also contains a bit of vodka to give it a kick.
    There is a vodka alternative given in the ingredient listing if you are not keen on the vodka idea.

    To be honest, I am starting to see already cut up mango prepackaged in the refrigerator section at my local grocery store. You can really make this recipe a lot easier to make by going that route if it is available at your grocery store too.

    Here is how to prepare your mango for this recipe.

    Start by washing your mango to remove any dirt or debris on the skin. Then stand the mango up with the flat side facing down and cut off the thick sides from top to bottom cutting around the seed. Use your knife to cut the flesh from each of the sides from top to bottom, four lengthwise cuts should do it. Use a spoon to scoop this flesh away from the skin and then chop or slice it up for this recipe.

    What to eat with mango salsa

    As with most other kinds of salsa, this recipe tastes great as a dip for chips.
    However, because of the mango, this is also great on top or on the side of fish or chicken.

    Here is how to store Vodka and Mango Salsa.

    I suggest that you make this recipe at least an hour before you actually serve it in order to allow the ingredients and flavors to mesh together. Simply place the salsa in the refrigerator while it sets.

    You can also store the leftovers to enjoy later.

    It is important that you store your salsa in an air tight container in the refrigerator, gently stirring it before serving. Doing so will allow this salsa to keep for a few days.

    Ingredients needed to make Vodka Mango Salsa.

    • Mangos- 3. Your mangos should be ripe, prepared as indicated above, and chopped into small pieces.
    • Pepper- 1. Serrano or Jalapeño Pepper, seeds removed and then sliced or diced. Please wear gloves before touching the pepper as it can burn.
    • Red Bell Pepper- 1 with seeds removed and then chopped.
    • Cilantro- ¼ cup chopped.
    • Red Onion- ½ cup chopped.
    • Vodka- 2 tablespoons.
    • Lime Juice- 2 tablespoons. If you omit the vodka simply use 4 tablespoons of the lime juice.
    • Salt and seasoning as needed.

    How to make this mango salsa recipe

    • In a large serving or mixing bowl, place the chopped mango, peppers, cilantro, and onion. Gently mix the ingredients.
    • Drizzle the vodka and lime juice over the ingredients and toss. Season as desired and adjust the lime juice or vodka as desired.
    • Allow the ingredients to set in the refrigerator for more flavor before serving.
