This recipe is especially for anyone asking how can I make apple cider vinegar at home.

Honestly, it just takes two ingredients to make this vinegar.
You may be surprised at house easy it is.

Apple cider vinegar is made through a fermenting process.

This means that while this is an easy recipe to make, it does take a bit of time to turn into vinegar.
However, you will enjoy the apple cider and its many uses in the end.

People ask what is apple cider good for.

Apple cider vinegar is used to make great tasting recipes such as vinaigrette salad dressing.
I should mention that you should not consume apple cider vinegar alone as it is strong and can cause issues such as breaking down tooth enamel.

Here are some beneficial uses for apple cider vinegar.

  • Apple cider vinegar can be used as a natural cleaner in your home when mixed with water.
  • Also, when mixed with water, apple cider vinegar can help alleviate a sore throat.
  • When it comes to beauty uses, an apple cider rinse can help to rejuvenate your hair when mixed with water.

Tips for making apple cider vinegar.

Here are some more great tips for you.
Apple cider vinegar can be made using any part of the apple.
This included the scraps- core and skin!
More helpful tips.

  1. When adding the water to the apples, it is important that the apples are entirely covered by the water. You may need to use a fermenting weight to hold that apples down in the jar.
  2. The fermenting apples should be kept in a dark location where it will not get too warm.
  3. This is a recipe that requires 100% real sugar. That means you cannot make apple cider vinegar using a sugar alternative or sugar substitute such as maple syrup.

You may be wondering what is the mother in apple cider vinegar.

The “mother” that is formed in apple cider looks like a cloudy blob.
It is common to see this in homemade apple cider vinegar.

When you purchase apple cider vinegar from the store, it does not come with ‘mother’.

This is because the mother has been filtered out.
However, the experts tell us that it is safe to consume this as you would the rest of the bottle.
Or, you can also reuse the ‘mother’ when you make apple cider vinegar again.

How to store apple cider vinegar.

Homemade apple cider vinegar should be strained and then stored in a clean glass jar.
I would however, also keep the vinegar in a cool and dark location between uses.

  • Prepare the apple cores and peels making sure that they however are free of stems, seeds, and dirt. Then place them into the clean jar filling the jar about ¾ of the way full.
  • Pour the water over the apples and then stir in the sugar. If you are using two mason jars, simply add one tablespoon of sugar to each jar and enough water to cover the apples. The jar should be as filled as possible with the water.
  • Stir or shake your jars to thus fully incorporate the sugar with the apples and water as needed.
Cover the mason jar with the jar ring and a paper towel, or a coffee filter. Feel free to loosely secure your jar with a rubber band.
  • Store your jar in a dark location that is warm, not cool, for two weeks. A kitchen cupboard or closet for example.

To finish making the apple cider vinegar.

  • After two weeks has gone by, use a strainer to remove the apple remnants. You can strain the vinegar into a new clean mason jar or glass and then pour it back into the jar used before once you are done straining.
  • Place the coffee filter (or paper towel) back on to the top of the jar with the mason jar ring. Store the vinegar for another four weeks, stirring daily if possible
  • Transfer your apple cider vinegar to a covered bottle. You can thus store your apple cider vinegar in the pantry.
