This is a simple lettuce wrap recipe that is made with tofu rather than chicken or meat.
While this recipe idea is perfect as a meal, it would also work great as an appetizer before a meal or for a party.

Did you try my recipe for Teriyaki Chickpea Lettuce Wraps?

That is another tasty vegan lettuce wrap recipe.
While this recipe uses tofu, that lettuce wrap recipe uses chickpeas.

Confused about which vegan milk is the best to use in your recipe?
Here is what you need to know about choosing the right vegan milk..

This recipe is especially for anyone asking how can I make tofu taste good.

The principal reason why tofu is used in this recipe is because it is an alternative to using chicken, beef, or even seafood in a lettuce wrap.
This alternative ingredient is especially popular with vegan and vegetarian diet followers.

Tofu right out of the package has little flavor that can also seem tart or sour.

However, because tofu is so easy to season to taste like chicken or beef, it is a a good alternative. Also, tofu can have structure which in some recipes, which can make a dish more like the original.

So what kind of lettuce do you use in lettuce wraps?

Not every kind of lettuce is suitable lettuce wrap recipes due to the size and the sturdiness needed to hold ingredients.
As a result, sing the right kind of lettuce is essential to the success of these wraps as well.

When choosing the right kind of lettuce to use for wraps you need to consider a few things.

The lettuce should be large enough to hold food, strong enough to not fall apart, and taste good with the other ingredients that are added to the recipe.
Good choices for lettuce varieties include bib lettuce, large romaine leaves, and Boston lettuce.

    Tips for making lettuce wraps.

When selecting the right kind of lettuce to use in wraps, consider how large you would like your wraps to be (appetizer or meal size for example). Also, choose lettuce leaves that are somewhat symmetrical.

Here are some more great tips for you.

    1. Feel free to amp up the flavor of your wraps. You can easily do this by adding chili flakes or sauce on top.
    2. Serve these lettuce wraps with a bit of dipping sauce. Add some sauce to my Vegan Mayonnaise recipe for a nice dip to serve this with.
    3. Serve these wraps as an appetizer for a party or gathering. You can lightly wrap them in pieces of parchment paper or deli paper.

    How to prepare tofu.

I use a firm or extra firm tofu for a recipe such as this one.
A more firm kind of tofu will keep their structure better.

Before dicing up the tofu, you should press out the extra liquid.

Place a few clean paper towels or a clean kitchen towel on a plate or clean work area.
Then place a few more clean paper towels or clean towel on top. Place a large soup can or similar sized item on top for about 30 minutes to drain.

    How to store leftover wraps.

Store the lettuce and the filling separately as they should be assembled before serving.
I store my separated parts in zip top bags refrigerated.
