    Tips for making the best marinated mushrooms.

    Small mushrooms work well in this recipe as you can serve them whole as they are bite sized and can fit into a jar. If you are using larger mushrooms you can slice them down to size so that they will properly marinate.

    1. To prepare your mushrooms you can wipe them down to remove the dirt. If you rinse your mushrooms, be sure to dry them afterwards.
    2. Save a small amount of the water used to boil the mushrooms in for jarring the ingredients.
    3. The vinegar is used to help maintain the color of the mushrooms. Lemon juice can alternatively be used but, will also add flavor.
    4. Your mushrooms will be boiled in water. Make sure that you boil them until tender but, not mushy.
    5. Refrigerating the mushrooms in the marinade is what will give them flavor and moisture. Do this for a minimum of two hours for the flavors to meld.
    6. Lastly, allow your marinated mushrooms to come to room temperature before serving for the best flavor and for any solid olive oil to loosen up.

    How to make Marinated Mushrooms with Garlic and Herbs

    Prep Time: 10 Minutes .
    Cook Time: 5 minutes .
    Servings: 6.

    1. Prepare. Prepare your ingredients as indicated. Also, make sure that you have a clean jar ready.
    2. Boil. Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Then add the mushrooms to the boiling water and cook until tender (five to seven minutes).
    3. Marinade. While the mushrooms are boiling you can make the marinade. In a bowl, use a whisk to combine together the olive oil, vinegar, garlic, onion, and seasonings.
    4. Drain. Carefully drain the mushrooms from the boiling water, reserving a half cup of the water for packing.
    5. Combine. Place the mushrooms into your clean jar(s). Pour the marinade on top and use the packing water from the last step to cover the mushrooms if needed. Stir the ingredients or securely place the lid on top and shake the ingredients.
    6. Chill. Refrigerate your mushrooms for at least a half hour for the ingredient flavors to meld.

    Expert Tip 👉 It is best to store your mushrooms in a glass jar that has a lid. Make sure that your jar has been cleaned or sterilized first.

    • ½ Onion - Sliced or chopped small
    • 2 cloves Garlic -minced garlic.
    • 1 tsp Dried Oregano

    • ½ tsp Red Pepper Flakes
    • 1 tsp Salt
    • ½ tsp Pepper
    • ⅓ cup Olive Oil
    • ⅓ cup Red Wine Vinegar.
