It is a good idea to wipe off any dirt from your potatoes even though they will be boiled in hot water. This will keep the dirt out of your water and from getting any dirt on the other potatoes.

    More helpful tips for you.

    1. You can find small potatoes that have been pre-washed and that are in good condition at most grocery stores in bulk bags. Not only are they small potatoes, they are ready to go.
    2. Using potatoes that are of a similar size will allow the potatoes to bake at the same time to a uniform crispiness.
    3. After boiling the potatoes, allow them to properly drain and cool before handling them.
    4. When you go to smash your potatoes for baking, use something, such as a non glass measuring cup, to smash them. Avoid using a glass or an item that can break and cause a problem.
    5. Place the smashing item in the center of the potato and push down evenly over the potato for a more even smash.
    6. Feel free to use the seasoning of your choice and in the amounts to your linking.

Expert Tip 👉 Smashing the potatoes is easier to do when they are still somewhat warm. You can do this ahead of time, refrigerate the potatoes, and bake them later or freeze them for another day.
